The Boston Bruins signed captain center Joe Thorton to a one year deal early monday. Thorton is second in the league in scoring with 13 goals and twenty assist. General Manager Mike O' Connell said, ""This was the final year of his existing contract and we did not want negotiations to drag on through the summer, so I'm extremely pleased we were able to reach an agreement on this extension. Joe is the cornerstone of this franchise."
